Exclamation Dryer leaves Loads Moist
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LER4634EQ2
Age: 5 - 10 years

Our dryer will complete the cycles leaving the clothes still moist. It will dry well lighter clothing loads. It will not do the same with jeans or swetters. We've been making sure we do not overload it. The cycles appear to last about the same time as ever; so we don't think it's just cutting off. We think it is not producing enough heat to dry the loads... but it does heat and has good air flow. I was told that the heat element on this model will not partially burn out... will either heat or won't.

What could be causing this?

If the element burns in two, and one burned end of it welds itself to the heater case and completes ground, it will heat slower and a lot less hot on now 110volts.
You need to take out the element and closely check for broken coil

Toro, Pull the dryer away from the wall, and take the vent hose off the back at the wall. Keep the dryer away from the wall, about 2 feet, and get the wife's panty hose, and stick it on the end of the vent hose that you took off the wall. This is just so no lint, gets in the house. This is a way to check and see if the vent to the outside is clogged. Make sure the hose has plenty of room for air flow, and then run a cycle. If it works, clean the vent, if not replace the cycling thermostat. You have to take the back off, and in the middle of the dryer, about a foot off the ground, you will see the thermostat. It is the only thermostat with 4 wires going to it. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com
