Default Dryer keeps blowing resistors
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.8687300
Age: More than 10 years

My dryer will not stop on its own, I have replaced the resistor between the timer and the heating element (stop resistor) 3 times. The buzzer does not go off and it does not stop at the end of cycle. It only buzzes when i manually advance the timer. I have replaced the timer and that did not help it still blew a resistor.

Any help would be appreciated!

Tried two different sites could not find any info on your dryer.
Are you sure the Model Number is correct

Does the timer advance in timed dry mode? The resistor is not used in this mode.
Does the timer advance in auto modes?

This resistor is in series with the timer
In Auto modes it gives power to the timer motor when the cycling thermostat shuts off. Basically it slows down the cycle time since you are cycling the heat, you need a longer dry time.

There is a good chance that the thermostats contacts are welded together so it never shuts off and could overheat the resistor.
Put the unit in timed dry mode
Open the door, shut the door switch, start a run.
Can you see the glow from the heater.
It should be fairly constant
Now put the dryer in Auto mode
You should see the heater cycling
Note: on some dryers you cannot see the glow at all
