Default Dryer just quit heating
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LGC7848DQ0
Age: More than 10 years

I am having a problem with this Whirlpool LGC7848DQ0 gas dryer. I was running a load of clothes and they finished with spots still wet. So I ran it again, same thing, which led me to believe that there was a heating problem. So I ran it without anything in there periodically checking to see if the dryer would heat up. No luck...

The dryer is spinning and going through the cycles, just no heat.

What we tried:

------------------
- Cleaning out all the lint...everywhere (by that I mean in the trap, in the back, even inside the bottom of the machine.)
- Reseting (flipping circuit breaker/turning off gas and then back on)
- Replacing the igniter
------------------

We opened it up and ran it for a little bit while watching the igniter...it didn't glow, which is why we replaced it. When we put in the new igniter it wasn't glowing either.

I don't know much about dryers and fixing them, just what I've found online. Any help with this matter would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Here is what I want you to do. Take the back off the dryer. Not the control panel, but the whole back panel, and there will be a thermal fuse. It is white and is about an inch and a half long, and a half inch wide. Here is what you do. Make sure the dryer is unplugged before you pull the off the back panel, then located the thermal fuse, that I am telling you about, and take the 2 wires of, and put the terminals together of the 2 wires you took off, and put some tape around it, so it does not hit any metal, and then plug it in, it should work. DO NOT run the dryer without it. This is just to test. That part is there for you protection. If you need me you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom
