Default Dryer heats...sometimes
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.74932200
Age: 5 - 10 years

Dryer has been acting up. Sometimes it heats, sometimes it doesn't. I have replaced the heating element and L155 thermostat. I have checked continuity on all the thermostats, everything is good, ecept that one set of leads on the L155 shows resistance. Is that normal for these (it's brand new)?
Playing with the dryer today, it seems to ignite and heat when you first start it. If I open the door to stop it, then close the door and restart, it doesn't ignite (i.e I do not see the element glowing). If I unplug the dryer, plug it back in, and start it up, it ignites. What is going on?

There is a resistor in the thermostat this is why it shows resistance.

Your heating problem it sound like the igniter is causing your problem.

You should get a reading between 50 to 500 ohms. If you don't replace the igniter.

Your burner has a separate model number, it is 110.8318272.

Here is a link to the parts of your burner model 110.8318272

Thanks for the response. The heating element (Ignitor) checks out at 57 ohms (at room temp). What's next?

Let me help you here. Turn the dryer on for heat, and watch the burner ignite, and then continue watching the burner will cut off. When the ignitor comes on the second time, does the gas come out, or the does the ignitor cuts off, and no gas. If so, replace the coil kit on the gas valve, it is alot cheaper than the gas valve. If the gas does come on the second time, you have a clogged vent. I can be reached at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

There is an electronic control that may be causing this to happen but I can't say for sure because I don't have the wiring diagram.

But because you say that if you unplug it it will work again I am thinking that this is resetting the board.

Check the board.
