Dryer will heat on "low" temperature setting, but will not heat on "regular" temperature setting. Where and what do I begin to test for first? Can a heating element be bad, but still heat on low setting?

It is likely your temperature switch.

The is only one heating coil so if the dryer is heating at all the element is good.
