My 8 year old Kenmore electric dryer is overheating even when on the Air only cycle. I would normally inspect/replace any faulty thermostats, but the heat on the air cycle is baffling me. Any suggestions? Could it be a faulty timer?

What do you mean by overheating is it stopping the dryer. What are the symptoms.
OR
Is it just that you have heat on the air only setting

There is a chance that your heater element is shorting to the case/frame but could also be your temp switch, timer or a thermostat
