Default Dryer heater and inside light not working
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: LDE9314ACE
Age: More than 10 years

Yesterday the door light and the heating element stopped working. The drum and everything else still runs properly. I tested the door light bulb and it works fine in a night-light.

Are the door light and heating element on the same thermal fuse or does this indicate another electrical problem?

I checked the plug and the circuit breaker and both are working.

But I should also mention that I had switched off the circuit breaker for the dryer earlier that day, then switched it back on. The dryer wasn't on when I did this.

Suggestions?

You will need a meter to isolate which part is bad. Most obvious is the heater. If your home ducting is partially clogged you may have blown a thermal fuze located on the side of the heater housing.

Thanks for the fast reply.

The duct is free from lint, but I know the unit is about 12 years old, so it makes sense that the heater may be shot.

But would that explain the circuit to the door light not working?
