I've replaced the timer with a brand new timer from Sears. The timer goes around to "end", and the heat stops, but the drum keeps tumbling. What do I do to fix this?

What was the dryer doing before you replaced the timer?

Model # is 86873100

Before I replaced the timer, neither the heat nor the drum would stop--the timer wouldn't move at all. Now the timer moves around to the off position, and the heat goes off. But the dryer keeps tumbling.

Check the motor switch contacts. They may be welded together.

You probably have some timer connections wrong. Check with schematic.
