Unhappy Dryer heat
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: C110 6250080
Age: 5 - 10 years

I just bought this apartment size dryer used. I know it's old, but is it normal for it not to get THAT hot? I'm used to full-size dryers and they get pretty hot. If it takes a while to get home, do you think it needs a new element?

Apt size dryers run on 120 volts, normal dryers run on 240 volts,
let me give you a comparison If a full size 240v dryer takes 45 min to dry jeans,
an apt 120v dryer will take 2 1/2 hours because 120v doesn't get very hot at all.
I sell them and tell people this and they say no problem, but call me 2 days later and say something is wrong, my apt dryer takes a couple hrs to dry my clothes, duhaaaaaaaaaaa! got it?

LOL, yes sir/ma'am. However, I received an email from a man on a used appliances site, where I had posted an ad saying I was looking for a washer and dryer....this man had a used dryer, also Kenmore and he delivered it right over. This is a more recent model and it works GREAT. It only took an hour to dry a modest load, and it doesn't go cold after a while. Regarding my original post, "If it takes a while to get home, do you think it needs a new element"...I meant "If it takes a while to get hot..." I don't know why I wrote "home". Anyway, thanks for your advice.

It takes a while because it runs on 120 volts< only heats up a 1/3 of what a 240volt does, it will never get as hot as a powerful 240volt dryer
