Default Dryer Has Issues
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MDE6200AYW
Age: 5 - 10 years

My Dryer has had issues now for awhile. For the past few years it has taken forever to dry a load. Now, when I turn it on it has like a burnt hair/burnt odor coming out of it. It still turns, all my knobs work, etc. Just the low temp and the smell. Can anyone tell me where to start looking for the problem?

Thanks, Jessica

The first thing to check is your venting.

With low air flow it will take a long time to dry a load of clothes.

If there is a lint build up in the dryer this could cause the smell.

If you are using the plastic flexible tubing you should replace it.

It can be a fire hazard.

Lint is very flammable.

Here is a link to your dryer model MDE6200AYW.

Also maytags should be taken apart and cleaned of lint build up every couple years, also if your vent pipe in the wall goes up through the roof, more than likely is clogged. lint pipes are supossed to be vented thru the wall not up! One sign of a badly clogged vent pipe is, the top of the dryer is hot to the touch, but the clothes take forever to dry. BETTYBOOP
