Default Dryer glows but no gas flame
Brand: White-Westinghouse
Model Number: DG400
Age: More than 10 years

When dryer starts, you can see that it begins to glow, however the flame does not kick on. Any suggestions?? Thank you.

if its a glow bar ignitor, that part needs to glow white hot. red hot wont kick in the sensor.

Default no flame

I'm not sure if it's a glow bar but the dryer had flame today. I tried it all day yesterday, it would not work. Today I tried again, and I saw the flame kick on. But, when I wasn't getting a flame, I didn't smell gas either.

I have a similar problem with my kenmore series 80 gas dryer model #110 72852 100.

the flame will ignite for a couple of minutes and then go out. I'll shut it off for awhile then restart the unit and it'll start the cycle over. I have no continuity on the one time thermal fuse and o ohms on the sensor on the heating tube.

could be just dust/lint on the holding and ignite solenoids, usually found on the heater assembly. might explain the intermittent problem. and its usually the most common cause of no heat complaint on gas dryers.

I'll check it but it'll will heat for a couple of minutes and then go out like there is something wrong with the high limit sensor.
thanks for the advice.

if the ignitor glows but no gas after the "click" then its one of the solenoid valves. duh, I should have snapped to that before I replaced the other sensors..oh well, its still cheaper then a new dryer.

JUst because the ignittter glows doesnot mean it is good. also on the intermittent working than not the coils on the gas valve heat up than dont work it only cost a few dollars for new coils. I nerver liked trouble shooting gas driers its a guessing game...jpg

that's where I've gotcha...I hate to work on anything but motorcycles and mountain bikes....the worst part is that I was cursed with the abilitiy to fix anything and I'm to cheap to let anyone else work on my stuff.
