Dryer gets hot but doesn't dry and has a burning smell

My Frigidaire dryer will get hot but doesn't dry the clothes. It has an awful burning smell coming from inside the dryer. It makes a loud clicking sound when in the off position. What do I need to check first?

Make sure that your vent is not block.

If the dryer has not been vacuumed out in the last year it should be done.

Is the drum turning?
