Angry Dryer flame goes out
Brand: Roper
Model Number: RGS7745PQ0
Age: 1 - 4 years

The igniter glows, the burner burns for 5 minutes or less, then goes out. The igniter glows periodically after that, but the burner never burns again. If I turn it off and start over, same sequence of events. I took the back off, ran a cloth through the ducting, same for vent pipe to the outside; all clear. I tested all the thermostats and thermal fuses. They all have continuity at room temperature; nothing is open.

What's left?!?!?!?!?!?

What about the gas valve coils? Could they be the cause of this?

It is definetly the gas valve. What happens is the flame comes on for about 5 minutes, and cycles off. When the glow coil comes on for the second time, you hear click, and the glow coil shuts off, and no flame. Replace the coils on the gas valve. There is a kit, that you can buy, rather then the whole valve. It is cheaper. If you need me you can catch me on my website. T. PAONE's APPLIANCE SALES & SERVICE GUIDE Merry Christmas Tom

Hey, Tom, you are right! I found the coil kit and installed it. $31.00. You described the problem exactly. Thanks for your post! We are back in business, and when wife is happy, husband is happy!
