Question Dryer Eats the Bear Drum in Door
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: DSKS433EB1WH
Age: 1 - 4 years

We have replaced the Bear Drum (manu. part #WE3X63) three times in the last 2 years; the last one was replaced in March 2007 and needs to be replaced again. The Dryer continues to tear up the felt/wool(?) seal. At over $45/Bear Drum, we are rapidly loosing our patience and pocket book. The first Bear Drum was replaced under warranty (when the dryer was less than 1 year old) but GE refused to cover the 2nd replacement 6 mths later and refused to admit a possible defect. So we replaced it ourselves. Is there something else we need to do to prolong the life of this part and satisfy our dryer's hunger? It's a great little dryer but a little too high maintenance.

Check the drum for rough edges.

Are the slides in place? They are number 3041 on your dryer breakdown. There should be four if memory serves me.

There is definitely something causing it to chew the felt up.

Here is a link to your dryer model DSKS433EB1WH
