Default Dryer does not heat
Brand: Frigidaire
Model Number: LC248JL*5
Age: 5 - 10 years

As a safety feature, when a sock caught under the tumbler, the heat cut out. This must be a fairly common occurence. What should I check?

Did the drum stop turning?

Is this a 110 volt dryer or a 220 volt dryer?

Here is a link to the parts of your washer/dryer model LC248JL*5.

Dear Sheila,

The Drum turns and I have been using the unheated dryer just to shake out excess moisture.

I'm pretty sure it is 110 volts, but how can I tell for sure?

It may be the heating element that has failed.

If the plug for the dryer plugs in to a normal wall plug it is 110 volts.

If the dryer has a big plug on it and plugs in to a special out let it is 240 volts.

It was likely a coincidence that it stopped heating when the sock got stuck in it.

If it is 240 volts there are two fuse in your house panel that are for the dryer.

If one of the fuses is bad the dryer can still run but will not heat.
