Default Dryer Dial Broken
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: WSM2700DAWCC
Age: 1 - 4 years

The plastic dryer dial on my GE Spacemaker broke this morning. The dial came off and I can see the break in that little plastic "tube" on the back of the dial. Is this a part that just slides onto the dryer mechanism? Can I replace this myself? Also, if I can replace it myself, do I need to purchase the GE replacement part, which costs about $50, or can I purchase a generic dial. Hope I described this clearly enough. Many thanks!

Here is a link to your unit's parts
GE WSM2700DAWCC

If the dial is the type that fits on a half round shaft you may want to try this.
Use a little airplane glue or epoxy to glue it. Try to pry open the crack a little and get the glue in, do not break it. Do not go crazy with the glue. Then get a small zip tie and put it on close to the end of the shaft. Use two if there is room. This of coarse only works if the knob will fit back on with the zip ties. The glue holds a little, the zip ties give it strength. It will never break again.
