Default Dryer buzzs and else
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: DDG7189VSL
Age: 5 - 10 years

For the last few weeks, when you hit the start button of my gas dryer the tumbler started to go and you heard clikcing, sometime it caught and other times you had to give it three or four tries before it all got working.

NOw when you move the timer to any active area, you just get a buzzing noise. Pushing the start button does nothing, the tumbler does not go either.

Any ideas?

Is the buzzing noise coming from the motor or the control panel?

Here is a link to your dryer model DDG7189VSL.

appears to be in the control panel. Here is what is happening now.

When unused for awhile, turning the selector knob to any active area causes the buzzing noise. At that point if you open the dryer, hold the door switch in and manual turn the drum, it starts going and it heats up. If you close the door, the start switch now works. You can now do multiple loads of laundry. Then as it cools down, pressing the start button causing it to try to catch and sometimes it starts and sometimes it does not. After it all cools down, you get back to the beginning of this post.

Any thoughts?

It sounds like there is a dead spot in your motor.

By turning the drum it moves from the dead spot and will then work until it stops in that spot again.

You will have to replace the motor.
