Default Dryer blowing circuit breaker
Brand: Please select
Model Number: hotpoint ultima tc71
Age: 1 - 4 years

Just bought a secondhand condenser dryer, the man brought it round in his car for me, once he'd left i plugged it in (without door shut & dial on off) & it tripped the circuit breaker, i noticed the bottom/back was slightly wet & thought maybe he hadn't completely emptied its water container & it had leaked a bit on it's travels so decided to dry out first before retrying it, it's been sat with it's back next to a radiator in the hope it would dry, i've left it 5 days now so decided this morning to plug it back in, but once again it tripped the breaker, strange thing is that the plug socket wasn't even turned on, just soon as i plugged it in turned off socket it blew breaker, i tried turning breaker back on with dryer still plugged into turned off socket but it wouldn't let me reset it till dryer was unplugged, this was a working dryer till it was delivered, what could have gone wrong in transit that as done this, & how do i repair it? thanks

Can you please supply the full model number of your dryer?

The model number should be on a tag with the serial number?

Is this a full side dryer or a portable dryer?

Is it 110 volts or 220 volts?

hi the model number is tc71p and its a full size dryer, presume its same voltage as other dryers lol soz, but when i've plugged it in i did turn all other appliances off in house first, so it wouldn't damage them if it blew again

OK that clears that up. LOL

There is either a problem with the outlet that you are plugging the dryer into or there is a wire in the dryer that is shorting out.

Very hard to say.

Try plugging something else in where you were plugging the dryer in to see if it is the outlet.
