Default Dryer Blower doesn't spin
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: LDE8424ACL
Age: 5 - 10 years

The dryer motor appears to work fine, turning the drum. However, the Blower wheel does not turn even though the shaft is turning. I noticed that the blower clamp is non-existant. The Blower, which is plastic, has three slots on it's center round opening that fits over the motor shaft. The fit is not tight on the motor shaft. Question: Do I simply need to replace the missing clamp or must the blower wheel also be replaced? If you feel the wheel should be replaced, what are the signs of needing replaced? Thanks!

Just replace the blower, a failed blower will do a lot of damage to the dryer if left running too long.

Smile Replacing the blower

I answered my own question yesterday when I went to the local Maytag parts store and asked to see a new blower. The hole in a new blower has a flat side, my blower did not. Having been bored-out in the middle thru years of turning, the lack of a flat side indicated that my blower had to be replaced. I ordered the blower thru PartSelect.com since the local Maytag cost was literally twice as much, even including the freight with PartSelect. Thanks for the reply and this forum.
