Default Dryer
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: LG9301XT
Age: More than 10 years

Yesterday, my gas dryer is giving off what smells like bus exhaust or a kerosene smell. The clothes did dry but also stink.

Did you dry some sort of rags with anything o n them. The dryer would not put out any odor, unless something was put inside it with an odor. I can be reached at my website, at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

If you can eliminate the possibility that you dried something and added the odor as per Kayakcrzy.

Quite often you can hardly notice an odor at room temperature but once you heat the clothes up, it becomes very noticeable.

Also check the last load for tell tale oil spots, you may have a washer problem

Does it smell like rotten eggs or sulfur.

You may want to get another person to smell the unit
Some people are insensitive or do not correctly smell the mercaptan which is added to natural gas so that you know when you have a leak

If it continues to happen, unless you have experience, call in a pro
You are messing with gas so better safe than sorry
