When the pulley is correct it will be nearest the drum.
take the belt from the drum and pull it under the pulley, thru the hole under the idler, then stretch the pulley and belt over the motor pulley, another words the belt comes from the top of the drum, under the idler, over the motor pulley, then it continues to the bottom of the drum. got it?
P.S. it's a lot easier it you hook a bungee cord to the top of the drum then hook the other end to anything on the back, this holds the drum in place so you can use both hands to put on the belt

Angry bettyboop

hi and thanks for trying to help.unfortunetly you have not answered my question.i already know how the belt loops around.the problem is i don't know where the pulley hooks on to.the two prongs on the bottom of the pulley don't seem to hook into the slot.when i pulled the dryer apart for the first time, the pulley was lying on the bottom of the dryer.i have no experience with dryers.two different diagrams show two different places the pulley is supposed to be.when i put the pulley in the slot near the motor, the pulley pulls up when i try to loop it around the motor, like the belt isn't long enough even though it is the right sized belt.i'm ready to call the repair person or i'm going to hang myself with the dryer belt!!!

I know you haven't done this before, but it's real simple.
Looking at the front of the drum there's the motor pulley lower right ok?
Now under the pulley are 2 slots for the tentioner pulley, with the white pulley touching the drum slip the flat part of the slot nearest the drum, then tilt the whole bracket up till the two tangs of the bracket go in.now just slip the belt under the pullen and force the springy tentioner to the motor till it fits. ok? let me know how you made out

The black thing the little white pully is on, is the belt tentioner, don't you feel the springyness when you bend it to the right to put the belt on???

Question bettyboop

hello again,i know you probably would like to hit me upside the head with the idler pulley.please just let me ask one more question and i will give up for good. are the two tangs supposed to fit in the slot?you said to tilt the whole bracket up till the two tangs go in.i just don't understand that part.like i said,i fit the two tangs in the slot nearest the drum then loop the belt through the pulley and around the motor pulley, the bracket pullsup and i can't force it down.is it supposed to just hang there in mid air? the dryer still won't turn.i really appreciate you taking so much time with me.thanks

Pretend I'm talking reeaaalll slooooow. When you insert the end of thr tentioner
in the first slot, then when you tilt it toward the motor, the "tangs" go in the 2nd slot and hold in place ready to put the belt in, and da ta da daa the rest of the story:: got it?
