Default Dryer on for 10 sec., off for 60 sec.
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110-92822102
Age: 1 - 4 years

Hi,
The burner on my dryer comes on for 10 seconds, shuts off for 60 seconds, then comes back on for another 10 seconds. This cycle continues and the dryer runs with a little heat, but not enough to dry clothes. I first replaced the flame sensor but that did not help. Then I jumped the thermostat and the dryer stayed on. I put in a new one bu the cylcing continues. I've noticed that the burner flame around the spoonlike shroud looks a little lazy and has some yellowing but is mostly blue. I've also noticed the flame seems to wrap lazily around the spoon and toward the thermostat. Does the burner need adjustment? there is no shutter for making adjustments but it looks like there should be.
Can anyone help? My families clothes are piling up and we're using my parents dryer now.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Jules

Jules, personally, I think you have either a clogged vent to the out side or a high limit thermostat problem. If you would take the vent hose off the dryer, and turn it on, and see how hard the air comes out, then shut the dryer off, and put the vent hose on, and then go outside and see if the vent blows as hard outside as it does inside. If not clean the vent out, and you will be fine. You can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Tom!!

Thank you!! You nailed it!!!!
I had checked the flow thru the exhaust duct last month when my wife told me about the drying problems. I used a leaf blower and it seemed to flow fine. The birds must've just started to build it then, but this time I found a huge nest in it.
All is well now. I just need to re-think my trap.

thanks man!!

Jules

Glad to help. You might want to put 1 of those plactic cages around the vent hose, outside the house so no varmints get in there. Tom ApplianceEducator.com
