Default Dry wont start at all
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.60902990
Age: More than 10 years

Our machine, which I make out to be a whirlpool make, stopped operating all of a sudden. The symptom is that when we press start I just hear a faint clicking noise behind the control pannel. This is a couple weeks after we got about 3-4 inches of water in the basement. The unit worked fine after the water was pumped out.

The clicking sound I take to be a relay and would seem to mean that AC power to the dryer is intact. The breaker wasn't tripped. The door switch operates because when the door is open I don't hear this sound.

Also I'm unsure as to how to get access to the control panel to make any electrical tests.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Default

The end cap of the console pop off and there is a screw under each one. Then the condole will flip up.

If water got in around the motor I would guess that the motor has failed.

Thanks.

What I found is that the belt had broken. I understand that this model dryer has a broken belt detector which I take to mean that the motor wouldn't run. Probably a good thing - that symptom might be added to the diagnosis check lists.
