Default Door cable and spring
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.76975140
Age: More than 10 years

Kenmore made by whirlpool. I have bought the door cable and spring to replace the broken/missing items. Where does the spring attach to the dryer and how does the cable and/or spring attach to the door?
This dryer has not had a cable/spring for a long time. The wife remembers the door used to have a cable attached to it but does not remember how. It looks like the cable attaches to the door some how and then goes thru a hole in the front panel and attaches to the spring. Where behind the front panel does the spring attach? Does the long end of the spring attach to the cable or to the washer?

This dryer is over 20 years old but it keeps on going so I would like to keep it as long as I can. I have replaced the drive belt already and I have also replaced the heater coil twice during ownership.

Any help will be appreciated.

There should be 2 cables & springs. One on each side. on the door is a white plastic plug on each side, carefully pry them off and insert the cable (one in each hole) and put the plugs back in to hold the cable on.
now open the lid, remove the lint filter and remove the 2 screws, then pop the front of the top with a putty knife. hook the spring in the end of the cable with the little hole. now pull the springs up and hook them on a hole on the top of the front panel, and your done. before you buy the parts, make sure the plastic guides that the cables go thru the front panel are not worn out, or the cables will break again. sounds compilcated, but a 8 yr old could do it. betty boop
