Default Crossed wires when installing 4-prong plug
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: Elite 110.62952100
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hi,

Did a dumb thing when replacing the 3-prong power cord with a 4-prong. I attached the black wire on the 4-prong to the ground screw on the dryer and the green wire on the 4-prong to the black screw.

This seems to have shorted out something (no fuses blown in the house) in the dryer as it won't start. I replaced the 4-prong power cord with another one to no avail.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

you could have blew the thermal fuze on the blower housing that protechs the motor, burned wires off the timer, with a major short like that, burned the receptical the 4 prong plug goes into. The contacs could be burned off in the timer,
just thak things apart and look for burns and melted parts
