Default Clothes Don't Dry
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MDE8550
Age: 1 - 4 years

We have to run the dryer at least 3 times each time with the same load for the clothes to dry? I checked the heating element it appears to be working. Also cleaned out the dryer vent. Is it possible that the thermostate is not working. If so which one, this drayer has two of them?

First, make sure the clothes comming out of the washer are not too wet.
Next pull the dryer vent off the dryer and check the temperature, it should get up to about 150 degrees.. Next check the venting outside, you may have a clogged vent.

Typically the cloths are not too wet. I did check the vent outside and it is clean. I have now way of measuring the exact temprature, but when I run the dryer with door open it does give off a substantial amount of heat.

Run the dryer with the vent disconnected and see how long it takes. Lacking measurements makes it hard to verify anything!!!

I tried with vent open and I get the same results. The clothes are not completely dry.

You probably have a burnt wire somewhere, your dryer is probably not getting up to a decent temperature like 145 degrees.
