Default Checking voltage at the machine and or wall
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 110.86873800
Age: More than 10 years

I have seen multiple references to being absolutely sure that your voltage is correct at the wall and/or machine.
OK, I'm convinced that I need to do it.

BUT....... I am only moderately blessed with skills. I have a multimeter that will allegedly measure the voltage that high and higher. Can someone enlighten a relative newbie as to how to accomplish this accurately and without ending up in the ICU?

Thanks

Default

Un plug the dryer from the wall, then remove the little cover on the back by the power cord, now plug in the dryer, set your meter on the a/c setting more than 250volts. now holding the meter probes, touch either one to the center wire, and the other right or left wire, and you should get 120 or more volts. Then middle and the other to the other terminal, and get the same. Now test the two out side terminals and you should get 235-245volts if its normal
