Default Change heating element
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: de407
Age: More than 10 years

Hi,

I have a DE407 Maytag Dryer the heating element is gone and i have
the new one but just need to know how to change it. I know it is the heating
element, it's not the fuse. My dad was going to do it but he had to leave before he could install it.

Please help.
Thanks,
M

Default

Remove the back panel.

Label and disconnect the wiring to the motor, door switch and other electrical parts.

Remove the screws on the bottom edge of the cabinet and remove the cabinet.

Make sure when you replace the element that you thread the element through the insulators. Do not pull on the element.

While you have the dryer apart check the felt on the drum for wear. Replace if necessary.

Here is a link to your dryer model DE407.
