Default Can someone identify this wire/resistor?
Brand: Kenmore
Model Number: 417.97862791
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hey folks...

First timer here, just replaced a motor/blower assembly on this old kenmore dryer. I came to find the wire/resistor below burned out - it is part of the heat selector switch, and is in between the blue wire and the two slip connectors. it almost looks like a fusible link, if that makes sense. anyway, the dryer is back together and starts up without it, but i figure they put it there fer a reason!

Any suggestions? Many thanks for your replies!

John

The resistor is part of the heater circuit.

It is usually used in the auto dry cycle.

It is not a thermal fuse.

With out your wiring diagram I can't be sure.

Here is a link to the parts of your dryer model 417.97862791.
