Calling adventurous dryer experts Brand: Maytag Model Number: DE8000 Age: More than 10 years I have this new-to-me Maytag dryer. I just fired it up with a couple t-shirts and observed that it only seemed to know one temperature: Real Hot.
I cannot do Real Hot. I am a peculiar size and if I delaminate a shirt collar in the dryer (A Real Hot dryer WILL delaminate a shirt collar) it costs me a lot of money and a lot of time to replace the shirt. If the dryer ruins all my shirts I can't use it at all.
Does anyone have a knowledgeable opinion on me changing out the one thermostat (200 degrees) for a 155-degree one? According to the parts site, the original thermostat is PS73059. There is a nice-looking 155-degree one here called PS344510. Looks like the hole span is in the ballpark and it'll want standoffs but that's easy. The terminals appear to be physically similar.
Opinions?
I don't want to hear from "You can't do that" mindsets unless you have a concrete reason why not.
Thank you for your kind attention.
