buzzing and won't start

My maytag gas dryer was making a buzzing sound and would eventually turn on when i held down the start button. now it makes a little sound but will not turn on. Also it smells like burning rubber. What could be the problem? It is almost 8 years old. Is it worth fixing?. Any help will be appreciated.

This sounds like your motor.

Were your dryer is gas it should be serviced by a qualified gas technician.
