Default Broken Door (not brand specific)
Brand: Kenmore
Age: More than 10 years

Opened the door on my dryer last night and BAM!!! something broke It used to have a slight tension to it, now it drops as far as it can. What exactly was/is inside the door that may have sprung loose? And is it fixable by an amateur like myself?

Here is a link to your units parts
Kenmore Parts for Models 110.86470800

Look on Page 2, this cable probably snapped
You will have to open the dryer up to replace it
If the dryer has a seperate panel below the door then you should only have to take this off. If not the whole front panel must come off.
Make sure to unplug the unit before doing this. Also be careful not to break your door switch. Unplug the wires, if the switch has 3 wires mark them so you know where they go on reassembly.

Thank you! You know, as old as this dryer is, I still don't recall if there was a cable holding the door or not. Apparently there was.
