Default Automatic Shut off quits before clothes Dry
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: MDG3000
Age: More than 10 years

I have 2 different Maytag dryers, 1is gas the other is electric, both run fine, heat well, but shut off the unit before the clothes are fully dry. Clothes dry on timed cycle fine. Is this a burned out timer problem or something else? The metal sensor bar looks normal and clean. Bruce

It could be a bad operating thermostat on the electric dryer.

Are the clothes still hot when the dryer shuts off?

It could also be the sensing strip.

Sorry we don't advise on gas appliances.
