Default Automatic drying cycle doesn't work
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: DBXR453ET5WW

I have a 7-8 year old GE dryer (model DBXR453ET5WW)

1. When the automatic dry cycle is used the timer doesn't increment. It will not shut off.
2. The timed cycle does work.
3. The dryer does not seem to be getting to full temp, may be mistaken

The vent is not clogged, it was mildly when this started. The hose is not too long.

I think it is just a sensor, but which one ?

Are the clothes drying or are they still wet?

They dry in both automatic and timed. The automatic cycle timer does not increment so it will dry all night long . . . The timed cycle never seems to be long enough to get the job done, so maybe it is not heating as well as it once did but I cannot be sure.

I just encountered the same problem in my Maytag. I'm guessing its the multi-temp thermostat - but before i order one, anybody seen this before?
I have a Maytag LDE4914.

Default I found out the hard way a new timer isn't needed!

I had the same problem with my GE Spacemaker Laundry Dryer Model #WSM2700DAWCC. Had a repair guy come who diagnosed that it needed a new timer, was to order one and never came back. Sooooo, I ordered one from PartSelect and had a neighbor install it. Guess what? The knob still doesn't move towards "off" even though the clothes do dry. I'm ready to cry, I'm so frustrated!

Default Guessed right

So i ordered the dual temp thermostat after looking some more at the schematic, and looks like i guessed right. Took 5 minutes to put in, and the automatic cycle works again. I had always thought there was a moisture detector, but apparently it senses the temperature - as the clothes get dryer, the temperature gets hotter, and the auto cycle doesn't start moving until it reaches the higher temperature.

Praisebandman...PS staff member Sheila e-mailed me that if I followed the wiring diagram I should find that the control thermostat (tstat) is used for the automatic cycle on my dryer. It looked too complicated for me, so I'm making do with the other cycles that still work. Good luck.
