Lightbulb Aussie needs help regarding belt dryer!
Brand: General Electric
Model Number: DDE5201P
Age: More than 10 years

G'day everyone,

I hope that someone can help me... I have an old GE Dryer bought brand new by my father-in-law in 1974. The dryer belt broked a few days ago and I need to replace it. I have found a replacement one at Appliance Repairs for the one that I had which the part # WE12X42 to this new one which the part # is PS265719. My question is that the old belt had multi-rib and measured 88 inches while the new one is also multi-rib but measure 87 inches... Would that new belt be okay even if it is short one inch? I am in Sydney, Australia and that would be a long way from the US to travel if it does not fit! I would appreciate any help... Cheers! Julie

I think it would be, but it wouldn't be too kind to your dryer. You could run it for a while IF you could fit it on, but eventually it'd die due to stretching constantly and other factors.
