Default Amana dryer won't start
Brand: Amana
Model Number: LEA30AW
Age: More than 10 years

The timer knob on my Amana dryer will not stay pushed in to allow the dryer to start. Could that be the (4) cycle timer?

When you push in on the timer knob does the dryer start and then when you let it go the dryer stops running?

No. It doesn't start, but the buzzer works when it's pushed in.

When you say the buzzer works are you saying that the motor is buzzing?

No. The timer buzzer. When I push the knob in, nothing happens. If I push it in and trun it through the cycles, the timer buzzer goes off when it's in the appropriate position.

Check for voltage to the dryer, should be 230 volts. Also check the thermal fuze. Check applianceparts.com for location.
