Default Amana Dryer heating element
Brand: Amana
Model Number: LEM847W
Age: More than 10 years

The dryer will run but won't heat. I checked the black thermal cutouts that were suggested on other threads and found continuity (are there only 2?). But when I check for continuity at the heating element I found that there was none. I checked by touching the black wire and the first orange wire coming into the element. But when I tried the second orange wire (after the resistor looking thing) I found continuity. Should there be any? The coils are also showing they're age so I am prepared to by the whole thing if that's the problem. Should I check anything else before I order? Thanks in advance.

I would buy the whole element kit, with the element, the thermal fuse, and the high limit thermostat. If you need me, I can be reached on my web site at ApplianceEducator.com Tom

Here is a parts breakdown
Maytag LEM847W Parts List

Look at the Heater Box Assy (Original)
Click of the Heater Element picture you will get a better view, also if you scroll down there is help from those who have used the part.

You want to remove the wires from and then measure between the two ceramic insulators. Normally heaters are around 8 to 15 ohms.
