Unhappy Amana dryer drum not turning
Brand: Amana
Model Number: LEA50AW
Age: 5 - 10 years

The drum is not turning, it may go for a little while then stop also lots of squeaking noises and even some burning smells. My husband tore it apart and not sure what is wrong. Is it just the belt maybe that needs to be replaced? Or maybe a little more complex.

My Amana Needed A Motor. The Squeaking Was The Bearings Of The Motor.

Here is your parts breakdown
Maytag LEA50AW

And here is a service manual that includes your unit
http://www.servicematters.com/maytag...S3200005R2.pdf

It will not be the belt

Open it up and check
Motor
Support rollers at the back
Idler wheel by the motor
Support glides at the front
Blower wheel
Felt seals
Belt

By the sound of it, there is a good chance it is the motor
You may as well do a general overhaul while you have it apart so get all the parts that need replacing. Give it a good cleaning, do not forget the blower wheel area.
Also clean and check your vent system
