Default Admiral Capacity Plus Dryer is buggered
Brand: Admiral
Model Number: LNC7764A71
Age: 1 - 4 years

I purchased my Admiral Capacity Plus dryer (model number LNC7764A71) about 2 years ago. A week ago it stopped running. It just won't start at all. I know it is getting power because when you lean into it you can hear a muffled tick-tick-tick-tick comming from the timer. From Googling, I have surmised that the problem is likely a blown thermal fuse. However, I understand that the thermal fuse has a higher heat threshold than the high limit thermostat. So do I have a second problem as well? Will it do to replace the thermal fuse if it will simply blow again due to a different uncorrected problem? How many parts should I switch out before it would have been cheaper just to pay someone who knows what they are doing?

I have ordered a thermal fuse kit and a high limit thermostat. Should I install both or just the fuse and see if that fixes it?

Andy

PS How do you replace either of these parts? Where can I get some diagrams?

In your home do you have breakers or fuses?

Your dryer is operated with two 30A fuses or a double 30A breaker.

You should check this first.

If the thermal fuse is open in your dryer this could indicate other problems.

It is probably better to have a repair person in to fix it.

You can try your local book store or the library for a repair manual.
