Question 15yr old htpt
Brand: Hotpoint
Model Number: dll2450rwlh
Age: More than 10 years

!5 yr old htpt dryer with sensi -dry. 1) @ 18 MONTHS AGO THE TIMED DRYING NO LONGER DRIED THE CLOTHS - it just would spin 2) Now the sensi dry is not always working. It runs good 4-5-6- times then does not dry all the way then it runs good 2-3- more times then not drys at all then it runs again ok. The OHM meter is 0 on the thermostats and the ignitor glows at start up and the flame comes on - al least when i am looking at it.
Any ideas.

mike

This sounds like the contacts in the timer may be worn or burnt.

Here is a link to your dryer model dll2450r. Please check the last digit of your model number.

You can check the timer with an ohm meter.

Default 15 yr old htpt-not again

Shelia

How do I check with an ohm meter - an I looking for specific readings?
I replaced the coils but it just happened again
It dried 3 loads on sensi dry fine load 4 was damp and would not ignite - switched to timed dry and it ignited but must of gone out soon as the cloths are still wet/damp

Its an old dryer so I do not want to put alot of $ in it

You will not get a resistance reading because you are just checking to see if the contact are connecting to one another.

You will have to have your wiring diagram to see which contact are close at different settings.

It may be that the igniter is weak.

You can check the resistance of the igniter.

With the ohmmeter set to the R x 1 scale touch the leads to the igniter leads and you should get a reading between 50 and 500 ohms.

If it is in this range the igniter is good if not replace the igniter.
