Im also having the same problem with my kenmore model #15872000. Hot water will fill in bottom, but nothing will spray from the arms. After the water fills I can hear the motor humming but no water moves in the dishwasher.

reach in, spin the spray bar, is it free to turn?
if so, take everything out. get rid of all the water.
Use a chopstick or similar and probe around by pump for plastic wrappers, straws, toothpicks, ice cream bar sticks, spoon/knoves/forks, anything that could block the pump.

Thanks for the speedy reply. I am able to move the arm freely, but I dont know how I can take it off. There appears to be a plastic knob on top of the spray arm but it doesnt want to unscrew. I recently started using some granular detergent which I think may have contributed to the problem. I tried spraying hot water over the arm and around inside the washer but it didnt seem to help any.

Heres some pictures to give a better idea of what Im looking at. Thanks again

Hi
It looks just like ours. You can remove the retainer nut in the center of the spray bar (lower image) by turning it Counterclockwise. Then the spray bar lifts off and you see a screen. larger debris can become trapped under the large plastic assembly, and on the screen. Its larger debris like toothpik, plastic fork tine, etc I am concerned about. Your detergent may also have caked around the pump impeller. If you dont see anything thru the screen youll have to use a torx driver to remove the plastic housing and access the pump.

With the bottom cover off, and water in the tub, the motor just hums, right?
I'd guess so. That means the pump is completely stuck.

good Luck.

I'm having the same problem... would someone have pics on how to remove the pump assembly and inspect it to see if anything is stuck in the impeller? My Kenmore Elite 665.15932 fills but won't run (the water does not spray, etc). It does drain though, when I cancel the cycle since nothing else is happening. Only thing I hear when the water starts filling is a humming sound indicating that the motor is trying to turn but it can't, which leads me to believe that there may be something stuck in the impeller assembly.
