Default Will not fill on rinse
Brand: Maytag
Model Number: lat 2301aae
Age: 1 - 4 years

when entering the rinse cycle the machine will not fill. The water runs out (empties) as fast as it tries to fill. If I move the timer to spin and let it spin for just a few turns and move the timer knob back to rinse it does fill the tub and complete the wash

It sounds as if your washer is siphoning itself out.

Have you moved your washer lately?

When you advance your timer to the spin cycle you are making an air break.

This stops the water from being sucked out of the washer.

Make sure your stand pipe is at least three feet or one meter high.

Thanks Sheila; I have moved the washer recently. (Pulled it out to clean behind it.) I will see what happens the next time it is used. The stand pipe has been in the system for a long time. If it continues to get us this problem what is the solution.

Thanks again,

Al

If the problem of siphoning continues there are kits available from a plumbing store.

There are called siphon breaks.
