Default Whirlpool woes
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: du943pwkto
Age: 1 - 4 years

dishwasher has no power to conrtol panel (no lights). had been working fine my wife stated house power went off then back on one day however machine was not in use at that time. Would my problem be with the thermal fuse or the control board. the board looked ok, did not see fuse where is it located? checked breaker not triped and connection at dishwasher ok.
Thanks

There is a fuse on that dishwasher, and it is located on the board. If you take all the screws out of the door, and lift up on the inner door panel, and set it aside, and then take of the black cover over the board, and door switch off, so you now are looking down on the control panel, and on the right hand corner of the control board, you will see the fuse. It does not look like a fuse that you would normally see. The part # is 3376359. If you want to check it and make sure that that is the problem, make sure the power is off to the dishwasher, and pull the 2 wires of the fuse, and put them together, and put some tape around it, and put the dishwasher back together. If it works, you got the part#. Make sure you replace it, it is there for a reason. If it does not work, you have 1 of 2 problems. The board, or burnt wires at the bottom of the dishwasher where the power comes in. You can do this. Its no big deal. If you need me, you can reach me at my web site at ApplianceEducator.com

Get the fuse too. For some insane reason, the fuse does not come with the new board. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

How did you check that there was power to the machine?
Did you use a meter?
Have you checked your door switch? That is the most common cause for no power.
Do you have a wiring diagram forthis unit?

I don't have a meter, removed wire from where they connect to dishwasher connected a wakk plug with a lamp and turned power back on. I have no diagram and have not checked the door switch.

Go buy yourself a meter
You can get a decent digital one for under $20.00
You do not need a fancy one
It is nice if the leads are 2 foot long or better

If it saves you buying one part unnecessarily you have paid for the meter
