Two problems, there is some broken glass under the 'accumulator' on our dishwasher and I'm not sure if thats what is causing our problem.

The other problem, is that the machine fills up with water and then doesnt do anything. I can hear it making a humming like its trying to do something but nothing happens, the cycle ends and it drains just fine but obviously nothing got washed. Is this the motor or would it possibly be glass in the bottom causing a problem?

if the motor is making a humming noise in the wash cycle there is likely an other piece of glass that is jamming the wash impeller.

You will have to remove the spray arm and accumulator and work your way down to the impeller to remove the glass.

To remove the feed tube for the upper arm move it a quarter turn to release it.
