Default Whirlpool dishwasher incomplete rinse (partially dirty)
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: gu940scgq2
Age: 5 - 10 years

The best way to describe it is that it leaves bits on top of glasses / dishes. The original problem was the impeller was jammed. After removing a number of items from the impeller, that problem was fixed. (No replacement parts were used just removal of clogging food, etc.) Solved by the posting below (diagram matched perfectly):

http://forums.partselect.com/dishwas...ller-3573.html

A few weeks later we started to notice an incomplete rinse cycle - and small particles were drying to primarily the glasses on the upper shelf, but occasionally the plates below as well.

We have switched soaps - power then liquid, then a different powder. No glasses have broken recently (the last maybe six months ago).

I've read probably a half dozen posting, but didn't see the exact answer... If this has already been answered, sorry for being repetitive. thanks

Do you use rinse aid?
If you're seeing it again I'd go after the chopper or impeller as you call it. Are you removing the big chunks of food before you put the dishes into the dishwasher. The chopper is not a garbage disposal as some people think. It will get most of the stuff but not the huge stuff.

thanks - both items helped.

I hadn't been using a rinse aid for a while and the screen was fine but the seal between motor/pump and the upper washing arm was not as tight as it should have been. So adding a rinse aid & securing the connection seemed to fix it.
