Default Whirlpool blinking light
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: GU1500XTLT0
Age: 5 - 10 years

Hello again,

I got some much needed help on the forum about two weeks ago, and here is the latest... The "clean" light on my 2002 Whirlpool dw started blinking about three weeks ago, and the unit would not function... The repair company sent a man out, who said I need a new control panel, which I ordered from Part Select -- but that was not the problem. I installed it and got the Identical symptom. I called the repair company, and they sent their "best" man out, who took one look at the bliking light, and (to the best of my wife's recollection) said that had something to do with the latch mechanism, which he reached into the machine and fixed while talking -- and voila! the machine started right up. It ran for two days, then stopped entirely. I took the problem to the forum, was told to check for a bad fuse -- which I did. Ordered, replaced, and the unit ran fine for about ten days. Now we are back to the blinking "clean" light. I may be wrong, but I think it was blinking six times in a row when the man came out, and now it is blinking 7 times in a row, pausing, then blinking again. So, we know it is not the panel and not the fuse... Any ideas, help, suggestions? Thanks so much!

Check to make sure that the strike that is mount on the tub is making the actuator in the door activate the switches in the door.

The technician likely bent the strike down.

You will likely have to replace the strike if this is the problem.

Here is a link to your dishwasher model GU1500XTLT0.

Smile the fix for a flashing clean light

Okay....I just had the Sears guy come out to fix my flashing clean light---yeah it was flashing 7 times then pause, then go 7 again....the owner's manual said it was a heater circuit fault and to call service; luckily this was still under warranty. anyhow, the service guy says this will happen if the water is not hot enough entering the dishwasher, best thing to do is to run hot water to the sink before starting the dishwasher, and to also preclean the dishes. You should have minimum 120 degree water for standard cycle, and 150 degree water for a pots and pans cycle; other wise the internal heater will be trying to heat the water for you and may go into the flashing light trip out. Also, there is a code of buttons to reset this flashing light thing, at least for this Whirlpool of mine, here is what this guy did. Push heated dry button then normal cycle button, then repeat. All of the lights should come on at once for a couple of seconds, then go off. Then you can use the dishwasher again.
