Do not know what info you have so you may already have the below

Link to your unit with a wiring diagram
Maytag MDB4040AWB Parts List

Link to two manuals , not the same model number but the pump looks the same so they may be helpful

I doubt that your high water level is caused by too much water entering on fill.
More likely is the unit did not pump out enough water on the last empty.
The fill is just regulated by time and there is no water flow adjustment
Only if it overfills the float switch then stops the flow
I do not think that the water level should affect the washer arms as long as they are above the water

well, the water is up to and a little over the bottom arm. I started the unit before the tub was full by turning the dial early, and the arm was spinning ok.

if i let it fill up till it stopped, the arm cant spin or spray.

how do i turn down the water level adjustment?????

plz help!!!

thanks

it is currently midnight at my area.

Look at the parts Tub section Items 28 and 29
May be there is an some adjustment on the switch
But again this device is only supposed to work as a safety device

If you have a shut off valve on the water line you could turn that down to decrease the flow. The flow should only be high if your water pressure is high.
