Default Water won't drain - Panel indicates open
Brand: Whirlpool
Model Number: GU980QPDB0
Age: 5 - 10 years

For a few months the door on my Whirlpool has been acting finicky. If I closed the door like normal it would often not engage the cycle. If I pushed/slammed it, it would work. I now have a situation where (with the door closed) I have a cycle indicator showing wash cycle normal & add-a-dish. There is about 3 inches of standing water in the bottom. My cancel/drain does nothing.

Thinking it might be a defective handle I replaced it, but not the micro-switches … same problem. I checked my drain hose on both ends and it appears clean. Before tearing into this any further, I could use some suggestions. Replace the micro-switches on the handle assembly?

Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

It could be a bad switch or the control board is faulty.

Remove the switches and check with a meter.

If switches check out to be good you will have to replace the control.

Here is link to your dishwasher model GU980QPDB0.
