Default Water won't drain and motor/pump produce burning rubber smell
Brand: Hotpoint
Model Number: HDA3320Z04BB
Age: More than 10 years

My dishwasher is producing an odd smell like burning rubber when it runs. Last time it ran, it did not drain the water out of the machine like normal.

I believe this may be the original dishwasher installed with the house (18 years old). I could not find the exact model number (HDA3320Z04BB) during a search on this website although I found four that were similar.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Default

Did find some info using HDA33, see below if this is a close match
HDA33 Parts List

Sounds like the motor is overheating
Remove the sump cover from inside the unit and the wash tower.
Also remove the kick plate.

There may be something in the sump area that is jamming the pump
Clean out these areas
If you reach down into the sump you should feel the chopper blade, it should rotate easily and should turn the motor's armature
Also could be the motor has just given up the ghost.

At 18 years old I would not put a lot of dollars into it unless it is in excellent shape.
