Default Water will not drain
Brand: Please select
Model Number: 363.14772100
Age: 5 - 10 years

I own a KENMORE (mod# 363.14772100). Water will not drain at the end.

I have researched and found the following checks for possible problems.

The question I have is which one is most common and which ones should I check first?

Also, is there any advise on checks other than these?

Thanks in advance!!!!!!

1. Check drain hose by disconnecting at pump and either kitchen sink or air gap/run water through pump to check for blockage and/or check for kinks in hose.

2. Check pump assembly including wash impeller and drain impeller of which I am not totally sure what entails.

3. Check for belt which is supposedly uncommon in dishwashers/replace if worn or damaged.

4. Testing the timer motor/measure the range with an ohmmeter and compare to resistance ranges in owner's manual - if range differs replace timer motor or whole timer unit.

5. Check the motor/measure the resistance with multimeter - if resistance fails, then replace motor.

6. Check the drain valve and solenoid/check the drain valve by moving up or down - if broken replace/check solenoid by checking resistance with multimeter.

By way of update, I have fiddled with my machine about all I desire. I am pretty sure that it is the timer motor.

When the machine enters light wash, the motor just hums for about an hour, even past "rinse and hold" and "dry plate" stages. The motor runs and I even saw and heard the solenoid engage.

I did check all hoses via removal of the machine from its cubby hole and even looked down into the sump entry and rotated the blade on what I believe to be part of the impeller unit. All seemed fine there.

Anyways, any help? What should I do? I think timer motors are over $100 right?

Should I just buy a new, nicer machine for $300?

Got rid of this heap.

Just installed a brand new whirlpool with cool silverware hardware. Never seen it before - it attaches to inside of door to allow for extra space inside.

Like it so far, now lets see how long it will last.

It really depends on if you like the unit you have and your financial status.

If you can buy a new one I would do that. Try a Whirlpool Gold unit. It has an electronic timer dispay on the front which is very useful and with the new features I'm sure you'll be better off. But then again it comes down to what you can afford. Good luck.
